OFFGRID NOW® Founder Mark Leckenby is an electrical engineer with multiple patents who designed the OFFGRID NOW® Piccolo 5, Excelso 6, Daily Grind 8, Robusta 12 and Forza power cabinets, and a range of Solar Trailers.
Graduating from the Central Queensland University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983, Mark entered a successful career in the Telecommunications industry. In 2008, Mark made the transition to the the solar industry, and from 2009 engaged in research and development in Australian Made energy management and power systems. In 2013, Mark designed and installed his first off grid solar system.
Frustrated and losing trust in the energy companies due to energy tariff manipulation by the energy retailers and the government, Mark was spurred on to make the transition from energy management to focus purely on off grid solar solutions in 2014. Mark established an R&D and manufacturing facility in Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, and got to work developing off grid solar systems, initially for smaller systems for Tiny Homes and Eco Cabins as the available technology allowed. From humble beginnings, OFFGRID NOW® was born, and with hundreds of off grid solar systems installed around Australia are moving forward into a bright future.
