BACK-UP POWER
A back-up power source is highly recommended when installing your OFFGRID NOW® power cabinet.
Back-Up Power options
OFFGRID NOW® power cabinets are installed with a built in generator port and may be connected to a power source for back-up power to charge your batteries in times of ongoing, overcast weather or in the case of inverter failure. A well designed off-grid system will have
1) Grid Connection Back-Up
Your OFFGRID NOW® power cabinet can be connect to an existing grid connection. This connection will take place on the day of installation. Our installer will have to complete an an application process for connecting your OFFGRID NOW® power cabinet to the grid, and there may be limitations on the size of you inverter depending on your Network Operator (Energex, Ausgrid, Ergon etc.).
2) Petrol Generator Back-Up
If the signal strength from your existing wireless router is too weak, you will need to install a range extender. Sometimes this is difficult to determine prior to the your installation date. If we determine that the signal strength is too weak on the day of installation, we can supply and fit a range extender whilst we are installing your system.
3) Diesel Generator Back-Up
If you do not have an existing wireless internet connection, OFFGRID NOW® offers the supply and installation of a Starlink Residential package. This needs to be pre-arranged with OFFGRID NOW® in advance of your installation date. This package is particularly useful if you are in an area with poor mobile phone coverage, or if you wish to use the Starlink connection for personal home internet and mobile phone connectivity.
4) LPG or Natural Gas Generator Back-Up
In the absence of a wireless internet connection, all OFFGRID NOW® power cabinets may be supplied with a 4G wireless modem with a preloaded sim card and 12 months of data. The sim card will need to be recharged annually for a fee payable to OFFGRID NOW®. This option is only possible in regions with 4G connectivity and at least 3 bars of signal. If the signal strength is not available, you will need to arrange for the installation of a 4G wireless modem antennae upgrade (see below).
5) EV Battery Back-Up
If the 4G signal strength in your region is poor (2 bars or less), and you do not have an existing wireless internet connection, we will need to install a 4G modem with an antennae upgrade. Sometimes this is difficult to determine prior to the your installation date. If we determine that the signal strength is too weak on the day of installation, we can supply and fit an upgraded antennae whilst we are installing your system. This 4G wireless modem with antennae upgrade will be supplied with a preloaded sim card and 12 months of data. The sim card will need to be recharged annually for a fee payable to OFFGRID NOW®.
*In the rare case that a 4G solution is not available, Starlink may be your only option.
